CIS Games in Russia's Kazan to bring together around 2,000 athletes

Around 2,000 athletes will take part in the maiden CIS Games in Russia's Kazan, Russian Minister of Sport Oleg Matytsin said at a meeting to discuss preparations for the competitions, BelTA learned from TASS.

“Fewer than two months are left until the CIS Games. The preparations are in full swing. The event in Kazan is expected to bring together around 2,000 participants from ten CIS member states. We have decided that the delegations' expenses will be covered by the organizers,” Oleg Matytsin said.

The CIS Games will take place in Kazan on 4-11 September. Initially, the CIS Games were scheduled for 20-27 August 2020. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event was postponed until September 2020 and later to 2021. The competitions will feature athletes aged between 14 and 23.
